Hargeisa, Somalia, SONNA – Abdiqani Mohamud Aateeye, the Protection Minister of Somaliland, has tendered his resignation from President Muse Bihi’s administration. Aateeye made the announcement throughout an interview with the Hargeysa-based native tv station Horyaal.
Aateeye cited his opposition to an illegal settlement between Somaliland and Ethiopia, signed on January 1 in Addis Ababa, as the rationale for his resignation. He expressed issues that Ethiopia’s intentions prolonged past the ocean and port, accusing them of encroaching on Somaliland’s territory. Aateeye criticized President Muse Bihi for failing to seek the advice of along with his ministers earlier than signing the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Ethiopia, stating that they realized about it from the media. He emphasised the dedication of the folks of Somaliland to withstand the perceived land seize, cautioning Ethiopia that their shoreline was not up for grabs.
