MOGADISHU (Somaliguardian) – Somalia’s Nationwide Safety Advisor Hussein Sheikh Ali on Friday dismissed reviews that the federal authorities is participating in talks with Al-Shabaab, an Al-Qaeda offshoot group that has waged an insurgency within the war-torn Horn of Africa nation for greater than a decade.
“FGS shouldn’t be in talks with al-Shabab (Al-Khawarij). The President has put ahead clear situations on this eventuality,” Sheikh Ali stated in a press release on X.
“They have to sever any hyperlink with international terror teams and settle for Somalia’s territorial integrity. They have to be prepared to pursue their political agenda peacefully.”
In earlier media appearances, Al-Shabaab spokesman Ali Dhere repeatedly dominated out talks with the Somali federal authorities, describing it as a “puppet” authority that has no legitimacy from its individuals.

It comes only a week after the Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud introduced that his authorities open to negotiations with the Islamist insurgency. The feedback got here following US army evaluation indicating that the group had reversed all good points made by Somalia’s military in a two-year joint offensive with clan militias backed by US and Turkish air forces.
