MOGADISHU (Somaliguardian) – Somalia’s authorities on Thursday acquired a cargo of 25,000 tons of grain donated by Russia, state TV reported.
Russian officers handed over the donation to the Somali authorities at Mogadishu airport, promising that an extra 25,000 tons of grain will arrive from Russia later this yr.
Talking in Mogadishu, Russian ambassador to Djibouti Mikhail Golovanov stated Moscow and Mogadishu signed in July an settlement that may alleviate about $700M of debt amassed by Somalia since 1961 in an effort to revive Soviet-era diplomatic ties.
