MOGADISHU (Somaliguardian) – A map showcased on the welcoming ceremony of a Turkish oil exploration vessel in Mogadishu final week has provoked a powerful backlash from Puntland and Hirshabelle regional authorities, who’ve accused the federal authorities of intentionally inciting inter-state and inter-clan conflicts inside their territories.
In response to the map delineating the northern part of the Mudug area as disputed territory below Puntland’s jurisdiction, Puntland chief Saeed Abdullahi Deni vehemently condemned the motion as a calculated maneuver to impress battle between his area and the neighboring Galmudug state.
“Mudug area just isn’t in dispute, and we won’t tolerate the actions of the Federal Authorities; there isn’t any battle between Galmudug and Puntland, and our portion of the Mudug area stays unequivocally below our management,” Puntland chief Saeed Abdullahi Deni mentioned.
In a press release, Hirshabelle chief Ali Abdullahi Guudlaawe criticized the federal authorities for omitting his state from the map and accused Petroleum Minister Abdirisak Omar Mohamed of longstanding efforts to sow division among the many communities in his state.
