Mogadishu (SONNA) – In a short ceremony held on the Port of Mogadishu, the Minister of State for Protection, Mr. Omar Ali Abdi, together with different high-ranking officers, obtained 4 high-speed patrol boats from the Turkish Ambassador to Somalia. The occasion was attended by the Commander of the Armed Forces, the Deputy Commander of the Somali Nationwide Military, the Commander of the Navy, and different officers.
The Turkish Ambassador highlighted that these boats will considerably improve coastal safety, noting that Turkey’s assist for Somalia, which started in 2011, continues to develop stronger. The Minister of State for Protection expressed gratitude to the Turkish authorities, emphasizing that the boats will play an important position in combating piracy and securing Somalia’s maritime sources.
Through the ceremony, certificates have been awarded to specifically educated Coast Guardsmen who will function the brand new patrol boats, marking a major step ahead in strengthening Somalia’s naval capabilities.
