MOGADISHU (Somaliguardian) – Ethiopia has distanced itself truckloads from weapons illegally smuggled into Somalia final week, which ended up within the arms of clan militias regardless of accusation that it had facilitated the acquisition and transportation of the arms cargo.
In an interview with VOA Somali, a spokesperson for the Ethiopian Ministry of International Affairs mentioned the problem has nothing to do with Ethiopia.
“The problem is unrelated to Ethiopia and falls inside the accountability of the federal authorities of Somalia to handle the registration, dealing with, and distribution of weapons on the nationwide stage,” spokesman of Ethiopian Ministry of International Affairs Nebiyu Tedla mentioned.
The unlawful cargo of weapons was seized by clan militias, who ambushed its safety element close to the border city of Abud Waq final week. Nobody has but claimed the possession of plundered weapons and no investigation has to date been carried out to ascertain who needs to be held answerable for the incident, which resulted within the demise of almost 20 individuals.
