Hargeisa (PP Editorial) — The detention of Dr. Abdirahman Kulmiye, a Somali-Australian citizen, in Hargeisa, allegedly on false espionage expenses by Somaliland authorities, raises considerations concerning the political judgement of its leaders and civil society.
In 2015, Puntland authorities launched poet Gama’diid, due to advocacy by conventional leaders and proof displaying baseless expenses. Nonetheless, within the case of Dr. Kulmiye, neither civil society nor the Somaliland Human Rights Heart in Hargeisa has ensured his rights amidst battle in Sool.
Detained by order of Inside Minister Mohamed Kahin, Dr. Kulmiye’s detention dangers damaging the bond of free motion between Puntland and Somaliland territories. It’s crucial for Somaliland authorities to launch Dr. Kulmiye promptly to forestall irreparable injury to inter-clan and civilian relationships, and allow him to hunt cures for illegal detention.
