Luton City are actually again to the English Premier League, after 31 years of absence.
This was after they defeated Coventry Metropolis 6-5 on penalties in Saturday’s championship playoff closing which was held at Wembley Stadium.
The penalties have been triggered after the match ended 1-1 following additional time at Wembley.
It was Coventry’s Fankaty Dabo who missed the essential penalty, blazing his shot over the crossbar, to seal the win for Luton.
Luton will be part of Burnley and Sheffield United that gained automated promotion as Championship winners and runners-up, in subsequent season’s Premier League.
Luton City have been relegated from the Soccer League First Division in 1992.
The Premier League started the next season.
